B-Line Transportation Analytics Inc. (“B-Line”) provides the B-Line online platform and mobile applications (together, the “Service”) has created this privacy statement ("Statement") in order to set out how we collect, use, and disclose personal information of individuals who have registered for the Service (“End Users”). The B-Line Service includes a mobile application designed to track the location and movement of individuals to create traffic and transportation analytics through the B-Line online platform, as well as enabling End Users monitor their own travel patterns and opt-in to be matched with carpooling opportunities. End Users may register for the Service for on their own behalf or in order to participate in a survey or study of a B-Line client (a “Client”) who has engaged B-Line to conduct that survey or study on their behalf (a “Survey”).
The privacy of our users is of great importance to us. By visiting our website located at bline.io (the “Website”), downloading the B-Line mobile application (“App”), registering an Account ( as defined below) or using the Service in any other manner, you acknowledge that you accept the practices and policies outlined in this Statement and you hereby consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information in accordance with this Statement.
1. WHAT DOES THIS STATEMENT COVER?
This Statement covers our collection, use and disclosure of information about identifiable individuals (“Personal Information"). This includes information on End Users and also the individual users of our Clients, prospective Clients and our Client’s customers who may also access the Service (together, “Client Users”, and together with End Users, “Users”). This Statement does not apply to the practices of companies that we do not own or control. We do not knowingly collect or solicit Personal Information from anyone under the age of 13 or knowingly allow such persons to register for the Service.
2. COLLECTION AND USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION AND OTHER DATA
2.1. B-Line Account Information
In order to use our Service, Users must have a valid B-Line account which they can then use to log in to the Service (“Account”). When you register for the Service, B-Line collects your Account username and password. End Users may be asked to confirm what Survey they are registering for, or this information may be assigned to their Account directly (for example, if you follow a link provided by a Client in order to register your Account). End Users have the option of creating a profile with your Account and we will collect any Personal Information you choose to upload to your Account, such as name, age, gender, home address, workplace address, and profile picture. Client Users may also provide their name, email address, business phone number and business address. Together, the information described in this section is referred to as a User’s “Profile Information”.
B-Line uses your Profile Information in order to: (i) authenticate your Account access and provide you with access to the Service; and (ii) where you provide additional data as part of your Profile Information, to include that information in aggregated and anonymized form as part of any Survey results communicated to any Client, including any Client whose Survey you participate in. We do not share individual End User Profile Information with any Client.
2.2. Transportation and Travel Data
In order to provide the Service, B-Line collects location and usage information about End Users. B-Line tracks and collects the following Personal Information from its End Users (collectively with the End User’s Profile Information, “End User Data”):
· Mode of Travel;
· Travel times and dates;
· Other information you choose to provide when you participate in a survey.
This information may be entered manually be End Users into the App or may be collected automatically by the App where the App is active on an End User’s mobile device.
B-Line analyzes the End User Data and uses the End User to display to End Users and Clients certain analytics (which are only displayed to Clients on an aggregated and anonymized basis), including but not limited to:
· Distance travelled by mode of transportation;
· Estimated calories burned;
· Estimated greenhouse gas set off;
· Rankings compared to other users.
The End User Data is aggregated and analyzed by B-Line to determine trends in communities and cities, including but not limited to traffic patterns and transportation preferences (“Statistical Data”). Statistical Data may be used by B-Line for commercial purposes, including by providing services to Clients, but Statistical Data will not include individual Profile Information or other Personal Information.
If you sign up for B-Line’s optional carpool matching service on the App, B-Line will use the End User Data collected to track your commute patterns, such as travel times and days, as well as departure and arrival locations. This End User Data will be used to match you with other users that have similar commute patterns to suggest carpool partners. After you are matched, the other person will be provided with your username only the users will have the ability to communicate using the Service.
2.3. Usage and Device Data
B-Line may also collect certain usage, diagnostic and device information (“Usage Data”) from Users, such as Internet addresses, time spent logged into the Service, device operating system type and version, device type, MAC address and other similar data. This information is collected automatically.
This information is logged and used to help diagnose technical problems, and to provide and administer our Website, App and Service in order to constantly improve the quality of the Service. B-Line uses the Usage Data that we collect to provide the Services and to continuously improve the Services.
Technologies such as cookies, beacons, scripts and tags are used by us and our third party partners. These technologies are used in analyzing trends, administering the website, tracking users’ movements around the website, and gathering demographic information about our user base as a whole. We may receive reports based on the use of these technologies by these companies on an individual and aggregated basis. Various browsers may offer their own management tools for removing these types of tracking technologies.
Standing alone, cookies do not identify you personally. They merely recognize your browser. Cookies come in two flavors: session and persistent-based. Session cookies exist only during an online session. They disappear from your computer when you close your browser software or turn off your computer. Persistent cookies remain on your computer after you've closed your browser or turned off your computer. They include such information as a unique identifier for your browser.
B-Line uses session cookies containing encrypted information to allow the system to uniquely identify you while you are logged in. This information allows B-Line to process your online transactions and requests. Session cookies help us make sure you are who you say you are after you've logged in and are required in order to use the Service.
B-Line uses persistent cookies that only B-Line can read and use, to identify the fact that you are a B-Line user. We are especially careful about the security and confidentiality of the information stored in persistent cookies. Users who disable their web browser’s ability to accept cookies will be able to browse our Website but may not be able to use all features of our Service.
Our third party partners also employ clear gifs (a.k.a. Web Beacons/Web Bugs), images, and scripts that help them better manage content on our site. We do not tie the information gathered to our End User Data.
3. STORAGE LOCATION AND TRANSFER OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
B-Line stores its data, including Personal Information, on servers located in Canada and the United States. By submitting information, you agree to this transfer, storing or processing of your Personal Information in Canada and the U.S. You acknowledge and agree that your Personal Information may be accessible to law enforcement and governmental agencies in those countries under lawful access regimes or court order.
4. DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION WITH THIRD PARTIES
4.1. Disclosure of Statistical Data
B-Line discloses aggregate Statistical Data to its partners and clients who may use the data for municipal planning, advertising and other business purposes. This information does not identify any individual End Users. For example, B-Line shares aggregated commuting data with building owners to allow them to plan for parking and other infrastructure, as well as apply for “green building” and similar certifications.
4.2. Service Providers and Business Partners
We may from time to time employ other companies and people to perform tasks on our behalf and need to share End User Data with them to provide the Services to you. Unless we tell you differently, such third parties do not have any right to use the Personal Information we share with them beyond what is necessary to assist us. This includes third party companies and individuals employed by us to facilitate our Services, including the provision of maintenance services, database management, Web analytics and general improvement of the Services, and businesses who engage our Services (to the extent provided for above).
4.3. Business Transfers
If we (or substantially all of our assets) are acquired, or if we go out of business, enter bankruptcy, or go through some other change of control, Personal Information may be made available or otherwise transferred to the new controlling entity, where permitted under applicable law.
4.4. With Your Consent
If we need to use or disclose any Personal Information in a way not identified in this Privacy Statement, we will notify you and/or obtain your express consent as required under applicable privacy laws.
4.5. As required by law
We may disclose your Personal Information to third parties without your consent if we have reason to believe that disclosing this information is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or interference with (either intentionally or unintentionally) our rights or property, other end users, or anyone else (including the rights or property of anyone else) that could be harmed by such activities. Further, we may disclose Personal Information when we believe in good faith that such disclosure is required by and in accordance with the law. We also reserve the right to access, read, preserve, and disclose any Account Information, Privacy Value Information and Diagnostic Information as we reasonably believe is necessary to satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request; enforce our contracts or user agreement, including investigation of potential violations hereof; and detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues. The above may include exchanging information with other companies and organizations for fraud protection and spam/malware prevention. Notwithstanding the general terms of this policy, the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information may be made outside of the terms herein to the extent provided for in any applicable privacy or other legislation in effect from time to time, or pursuant to court orders.
We will keep your Personal Information for as long as it remains necessary for the identified purpose or as required by law, which may extend beyond the termination of our relationship with you. We may retain certain data as necessary to prevent fraud or future abuse, or for legitimate business purposes, such as analysis of aggregated, non-personally-identifiable data, account recovery, or if required by law. In some circumstances you can ask us to delete your information: see section 7 below for further information. All retained Personal Information will remain subject to the terms of this Privacy Statement.
6. ACCESS, CORRECTION AND ACCURACY
You have the right to access the Personal Information we hold about you in order to verify the Personal Information we have collected in respect to you and to have a general account of our uses of that information. Upon receipt of your written request, we will provide you with a copy of your Personal Information, although in certain limited circumstances, and as permitted under law, we may not be able to make all relevant information available to you, such as where that information also pertains to another user. In such circumstances we will provide reasons for the denial to you upon request. We will endeavor to deal with all requests for access and modifications in a timely manner.
We will make every reasonable effort to keep your Personal Information accurate and up to date, and we will provide you with mechanisms to update, correct, delete or add to your Personal Information as appropriate. As appropriate, this amended Personal Information will be transmitted to those parties to which we are permitted to disclose your information. Having accurate Personal Information about you enables us to give you the best possible service.
7. RESIDENTS OF THE EUROPEAN ECONOMIC AREA (“EEA”)
In addition to the rights set out in this Statement, if you are a resident of the EEA then you may have additional rights regarding your Personal Information.
B-Line generally processes Personal Information in order to fulfill contract we have with You (that is, by providing you with our services) and to pursue our legitimate business interests. Otherwise, B-Line will obtain consent from an individual in respect of processing of Personal Information if required by law to do so.
Further, individuals located in the EEA have certain rights under European law (including under the General Data Protection Regulation) with respect to Personal Information, including the reight to request that we:
Confirm that we have their personal data;
Provide them with access to their personal data that we possess, including in portable format;
Correct, update or amend their personal data;
Delete and “forget” their personal data;
Object to our use or disclosure of their personal data; and
Limit our processing of their personal information.

We may amend this Statement from time to time. Use of Personal Information we collect is subject to the Statement in effect at the time such information is collected, used or disclosed. If we make material changes or changes in the way we use Personal Information, we will notify you by posting an announcement on our Website or App or sending you an email prior to the change becoming effective. You are bound by any changes to the Statement when you use the Website after such changes have been first posted.
